Founded in 1983, the Hospitality Industry Association is a paid membership organization that is exclusive to tourism or hospitality employees and management. Members receive significant industry related perks and discounts offered by advertising sponsors.

HIA advertising sponsors make deep discounted offers not available to the public because they recognize the critical contribution hospitality employees make to the success of tourism. Sponsors also understand that those same employees refer hundreds of visitors, sometimes on a daily basis, to places they like to go. As a marketing tool, HIA actually generates " word of month" advertising, which is the most effective advertising in the world.

Many businesses provide HIA Memberships to staff members as an employee benefit. When employees take advantage of the member benefits, they are stretching their leisure dollars while enjoying themselves. As a result, the employer gets the credit for providing the money-saving and fun benefit. With this concept, HIA has been proven to help motivate staff and reduce turnover.

HIA members receive an annual Membership Card and twice annually they receive a Member Benefits Directory containing hundreds of exclusive offers made by participating businesses. These targeted offers provide a unique reason for our members to visit the businesses and experience what they have to offer. As managers and employees in the tourism industry (hotels, restaurants, attractions, etc.), our members are constantly asked " where should I go? What should I do?"
